In-Depth
What You Need to Know
Dermaplaning provides immediate results with zero downtime. The esthetician holds the skin taut and uses a #10 surgical blade at a 45-degree angle to remove the outermost layer of dead skin along with fine facial hair. Benefits include improved skin texture and tone, better product absorption, smoother makeup application, and enhanced results from other treatments (chemical peels, facials, laser). The treatment takes 20-30 minutes and is often combined with a facial, chemical peel, or HydraFacial for enhanced results. Contrary to popular myth, dermaplaning does NOT cause hair to grow back thicker or darker — vellus hair always regrows at the same texture. Treatments are recommended every 3-4 weeks to align with the skin's natural turnover cycle. Dermaplaning is not recommended for active acne, as the blade can spread bacteria. Cost ranges from $75-$250 per session.
