The Recall list finds the patients who are overdue for regular care and puts them in one actionable place. It's one of the highest-return things you can do with FrontDesk — these are people who already know you, so a quick call often fills a slot that would otherwise sit empty.
Open it from Patients → Recall.
How recall works
FrontDesk looks at each patient's last appointment and the recall interval on the service they had. If a service like "cleaning" is set to recur every 6 months, anyone past that window shows up as due or overdue.
Set recall intervals on your services first. Open Services and add a recall interval to the appointment types that repeat. Without an interval, a service won't generate recalls.
The dashboard
Four stat cards summarize where things stand:
- Overdue — patients past their recall date
- Contacted today — outreach you've logged today
- Scheduled this week — patients who booked after outreach
- Total recallable — everyone with a recall-eligible service
Work the list
- Filter by status — all, due soon, overdue, contacted, or scheduled.
- Search by patient name or phone, and sort by due date, name, or last visit.
- Days-overdue badges are color-coded so you can triage — green (due soon) through red (critically overdue).
Log every outreach
Click Log contact on a patient to record what happened:
- Method — phone call, SMS, or email
- Outcome — no answer, left message, spoke with patient, scheduled, or declined
- Next recall date — override when to reach out again
- Notes — anything worth remembering for next time
Logging keeps a history on each patient and, when the outcome is "scheduled," moves them off the overdue list.
Good to know
- Recall complements reminders. Appointment reminders keep booked patients from no-showing; recall brings back patients who don't have anything booked at all.
- Refresh anytime. Use Refresh statuses to recalculate who's due against the latest appointment data.
