Choose an AI voice

Your AI's voice is the first impression every caller gets. FrontDesk ships with 12 voices across genders, accents, and styles — preview each, click to select (it autosaves), and fine-tune personality tone and speaking speed to match your brand.

Picking a voice is fast — listen to a few, click the one you like, and it's live on your next call. There's no model switching or quality tier to think about; every voice ships at the same fidelity.

How to change your voice

  1. Open Settings → AI Voice → Settings tab.
  2. Scroll to the Voices section — you'll see 12 voice cards.
  3. Click on any card to preview a short sample.
  4. Click the card itself to select. The change autosaves immediately.

That's it — your next inbound call uses the new voice.

During onboarding you're shown a curated 6-voice subset (Emma, Layla, Clara, Nico, Neil, Sid) to keep the first decision simple. The full 12 are always available from Settings.

Personality tone and speaking speed

Below the voice cards:

  • Personality Tone — Friendly (default), Professional, Casual, or Empathetic
  • Speaking Speed — 0.85x to 1.15x (1.0x default)

Click Save Settings after changing these — unlike voice selection, tone and speed need an explicit save.

What's next

Frequently asked questions

Can I preview a voice before selecting?
Yes. Every voice card has a ▶ button that plays a short MP3 sample. Listen to a few before committing — the differences in warmth and pacing are bigger than you'd expect.
Does the voice change save automatically?
Yes — clicking a voice card autosaves immediately, no Save button needed for the voice itself. Personality Tone and Speaking Speed have their own Save Settings button.
Can I clone my own voice or upload a custom one?
Not yet from the UI. The 12 curated voices are the supported set. Custom voice cloning is on our roadmap — contact support if it's a hard requirement for your practice.
Which voices do you recommend for healthcare?
Emma and Clara test best for warmth and clarity in patient-facing scenarios. Neil and James project authority for specialist offices. Try the previews and pick what feels like your brand.
