When you sign up, FrontDesk creates your organization, your first practice (location), and a free subscription automatically. You're then redirected to /onboarding and walked through 5 steps. You can use the rest of the app, but you'll be sent back to the wizard until the required steps are finished.
The 5 steps
Step 1 — Practice info
Business name, business type (dental, vet, med spa, etc.), main phone, address, timezone, and primary language. The business type you pick determines the service templates offered in step 3 and the terminology used across the app ("patient" vs. "client" vs. "pet owner").
Step 2 — Business hours
Set open/close times for each day of the week. Slots are in 15-minute intervals. These hours control when your AI greets callers normally vs. uses your after-hours behavior.
Step 3 — Appointment types
Pick the services you offer from a pre-populated list based on your business type. You can adjust names, durations, and add custom services later from Settings → Services.
Step 4 — AI voice
Choose from a curated 6-voice subset (Emma, Layla, Clara, Nico, Neil, Sid). Click ▶ to preview. The full 12-voice catalog is available afterward from Settings → AI Voice.
Step 5 — Test the system
Run a scenario-based test call so you can hear how your AI handles common requests before any real caller does.
What happens when you finish
Your OnboardingProgress record is marked completedAt, the wizard stops redirecting you, and the Dashboard → Getting Started checklist takes over to guide your first week.
