Upgrade or downgrade your plan

Plan changes happen instantly from Settings → Subscription. Upgrades bill the prorated difference immediately. Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle so you keep what you paid for. We block downgrades that would put you over plan limits.

Plans scale with you — start free, upgrade when you outgrow it, drop back down if a season slows. Changes are self-service and instant.

How to change plans

  1. Open Settings → Subscription.
  2. Scroll to the Available Plans grid.
  3. Click Upgrade to <plan> or Downgrade to <plan> on the tile you want.
  4. Review the prorated charge or credit in the confirmation dialog.
  5. Click Confirm.

Upgrades activate instantly. Downgrades schedule for the next renewal date — you'll see a banner showing the date.

Plan tiers in code are ranked free < starter < pro < elite < ultimate for permission checks — features check "are you at least Pro?" not specific plan names.

What you can't do via self-service

  • Custom enterprise plans — talk to sales
  • Pause and resume — contact support; we'll preserve your data but suspend billing
  • Cancel — covered in Cancel your subscription (separate workflow that requires confirming data export)

Limits enforcement

Plan limits are checked at the action that would exceed them:

  • Team members — invite blocked with a clear "upgrade to add more" message
  • Locations — adding a location blocked similarly
  • Minutes / SMS — overages are allowed and billed at per-unit rates (see Usage and overages)

We never silently stop your AI from answering calls because of a usage cap — we'd rather charge the overage and tell you about it.

What's next

Frequently asked questions

Will I be charged immediately when upgrading?
Yes — you're charged the prorated difference for the rest of the current billing cycle. The full new rate kicks in at your next renewal date.
When does a downgrade take effect?
At the end of your current billing cycle. You keep all the features and limits of your higher plan until then, with no refund or credit for unused time.
Can I always downgrade?
No — if your current usage exceeds the lower plan's limits (e.g., more team members or locations than allowed), we'll block the downgrade and tell you what to reduce first.
What about annual plans?
Annual subscriptions can upgrade anytime (prorated). Downgrades happen at annual renewal. You can switch monthly↔annual from the same page.
