Error messages explained

When FrontDesk blocks something, it says why in a sentence you can search for here. Most messages fall into a few groups. Plan limits ("Your Pro plan includes 1 phone number") are lifted by upgrading under Settings → Billing. Billing problems ("Add a payment method in Settings → Billing", "Your card was declined") are fixed by updating the card. "Please verify your email address to use this feature" clears once you click the link in the verification email. Texting messages ("not yet registered for texting (A2P 10DLC)", "Texting is off") clear when your texting registration is approved. Client payment and invoice guards ("Use Refund and waive", "This invoice was voided, so it can't be paid") stop money being taken or kept twice. Each table lists the message, where it appears, what it means, and what to do.

FrontDesk tells you why an action was blocked in plain words. This page collects those messages so you can find the fix by searching for the text you saw. The wording is quoted as it appears; where a message includes your plan name or a number, the example shows one.

For a draft it says "Take it off that draft" instead.Open the invoice from Payments → Invoices (or the client's Billing tab). Click Void and give a reason, or for a draft click Edit and take the charge off. Then try again. See Invoices.

The discount is more than this invoice's non-visit lines. To discount a visit, adjust its charge instead: Adjust balance on the client's Billing tab, and pick that visit's charge. Frequently asked questions

It says "Please verify your email address to use this feature." What do I do?
Your account email has not been confirmed yet. Open the verification email FrontDesk sent when you signed up and click the link; on the Phone setup page there is a Resend email button if it is missing (it can be resent every two minutes). Buying a phone number, sending texts and a few other actions wait until the email is verified.
It says my plan includes 1 phone number (or 1 location, or 3 domains). Is that final?
It is the plan's allowance: Free and Pro include 1 phone number and 1 location, Elite 3 of each, and domains are 3 on Pro and 10 on Elite. Upgrading under Settings → Billing raises it. Enterprise and custom-priced accounts can have any limit set by FrontDesk support, so contact support if you need more without changing plan.
It says "Add a payment method in Settings → Billing" but I pay by invoice.
Add-on purchases (an extra phone number, a domain) are charged to a card on file the moment you buy, separately from your subscription. Add a card under Settings → Billing → Manage billing, or ask support if your agreement bundles them.
The Phone & SMS page says "This phone number is not yet registered for texting (A2P 10DLC)."
Carriers require every business number to be registered before it can send texts. Open Settings → Phone & SMS → Texting and click Set up texting. After you submit, the card reads Texting registration pending while the carriers review it (usually 3 to 7 business days), then Texting is on. Texting turns on by itself when it is approved. A rejection shows the reason and a Fix & Resubmit button.
It says "You must keep at least one active location."
You tried to remove your only active location. Add another location first (Settings → Locations), then remove this one. A removed location is archived, not deleted, and can be restored.
It says "Another client already uses this email."
Each client needs their own email because it is their Client Portal login. A parent or guardian's email belongs in the parent or guardian contact on a minor's record, not in the client's own email field. Search for the existing client before creating a new one.
I got "Password changed successfully. Please log in again with your new password." and was signed out everywhere.
That is intended. Changing your password signs out every session on every device for security. Sign in again with the new password; a confirmation email is also sent.
A message is not in this list.
Paste the exact text into the Setup Assistant, or send it to support (click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, then Need Help?). Many other messages are explained in the guide for that feature: search the help center for the words on your screen.
